Post-Dredge Water Depth Verification

The Mapping Network completed a post dredge bathymetry survey to show the status of a  dredging project on a lake near Kansas City.   A comparison map of the pre-dredge and post-dredge depths was generated to verify the amount and location of material removed.   Areas still needing to be dredged are located and the dredging contractor will focus their efforts on those locations.  This verifies the dredging has reached the planned depths. Bathymetry and Sediment Mapping in New Jersey

The Mapping Network was contacted by Solitude Lake Management to perform a bathymetric and sediment evaluation of a specific pond. This evaluation will then be used for Dredging of the area. We converted their Trimble SSF file of bathymetric data over to GIS data to then be used for mapping. Our Geospatial Analyst then produced three visuals: 3D Bathymetry Map, Contour Bathymetry Map, and a Sediment Thickness Map. These will provide the Technicians in the…

Texas Sediment Survey for Dredge Planning

Pond Medics created a bathymetry and a sediment volume study for a property owners association in Texas. The lake was mapped to understand current water depths and to calculate the amount of accumulated sediment.  This is essential information to plan and help the POA manage the future dredging project. About The Mapping Network:  The Mapping Network is an industry leader in Geographic Information Systems, GPS Data Collection, Aerial Imagery, and Data Conversion.  We specialize in…

Power Station Predredge Survey for Ash Pond Dredging Project

The Mapping Network team performed a hydrographic predredge survey on a large ash reservoir for a power station in Kansas.   The purpose was to quantify and locate ash accumulation that needed to be dredged per EPA regulations.   By comparing the original bottoms of the ponds with the current bottom depths, a computer model calculated the location and amount of material.  The power company and dredge contractor will use this information to assist in validating that all the…

Reservoir Dredge Comparison Map

The Mapping Network completed a bathymetry survey to show the status of a dredging project  for a drinking water reservoir.   The comparison map was calculated to verify the amount and location of material removed.   Areas still needing to be dredged are located and the dredging contractor will focus their efforts on those locations.  This verifies the dredging has reached the planned depths and keeps all parties on the same page. About The Mapping Network:  The…

Calculating Water Volume after Dredging in New York

Allied Bilogical, a lake mapping partner within The Mapping Network helped a Home Owners Association (HOA) map a series of ponds and waterways.  The HOA was preparing for permitting and dredging proposals and they needed the current water volume and post dredge water volume for each water body unit.  Also part of the project was sediment core sampling to understand the type of sediment materials in the ponds.   This information will assist the HOA in…

Lake Mapping for 7 lakes in Arkansas Community

The Mapping Network completed bathymetry and sediment maps for each of the 7 lakes of a home owners association in Arkansas.   The lakes ranged in size from 80 to 500 acres.   The purpose of the multi-year project was to use the maps to plan for fish habitat improvement projects, sediment monitoring, dredge cost-analysis and for fishing maps to community anglers. About The Mapping Network:  The Mapping Network is an industry leader in Geographic Information…

Is Your Storm Water Retention Basin Still Functional?

A common concern among pond owners is how much storage capacity has their retention basin lost since it was built?  Overtime these basins fill in with sediment and lose their functionality for what they were designed. The big question is when does that happen? A client in Kansas City, Missouri knew their pond was losing depth, but wanted to find out how much?  And how long did they have before dredging was needed?  The Mapping Network surveyed the pond…

Lake and Sediment Volume Maps for HOA in Virginia

Solitude Lake Management performed another a bathymetry and a sediment volume survey for a home owners association in Virginia. Three ponds on the property were mapped due to decreasing water depths caused by sedimentation.  The HOA needed to understand the total volume and distribution of sediment.  This information will be used as a baseline information for making decision in the future.   The Mapping Network is an industry leader in Geographic Information Systems Consulting, Data Conversion,…

How much does Dredging cost?

How much does dredging cost is the most commonly asked question for many lake associations.  We sat down with Dan McDougal, President of Dredge America and asked him that question.   When lake homeowner’s call for our assistance with their potential upcoming dredging projects, the first question we usually get asked is, “How much does it cost?” This is usually followed by, “Just a ballpark figure that I won’t hold you to.” Then we often…
